Dreams and Teams Work Together

Recently, there was much discussion concerning Galveston’s Little League Fields, and rightly so. Quality Sports Facilities of all types, for adults and children, are an integral part of creating a better quality of life for our residents and are a measure of a community’s future success and sustainability.

As the President of the City’s Industrial Development Corporation, I supported recent funding for additional improvements to the baseball fields at Crockett Park, the other fields on the West End, and approval for a State of the Art Sandhill Crane Soccer Complex. In addition to these projects, discussions between the City, GISD, and Galveston College are underway for the addition of a new multi-use field for residents of all ages.

These enhancements for our Community and children are funded by sales tax generated by those who visit our Island. An added benefit is that once the facilities are completed, tournaments will become more frequent, which will continue to increase our sales tax.

In the next few months, Council will be approving many of these projects. They are just the beginning of our continuing commitment to ensuring quality recreation areas for our residents.
